COMMERCEHUB'S VIRTUAL INVENTORY NETWORK RAPIDLY LAUNCHES QVC.COM INTO THE ELECTRONIC/ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS
CLIFTON PARK, NY - November 16, 2001 - CommerceHub, which builds, hosts, and services virtual supply chain networks for leading multi-channel retailers, announced today that QVC.com has chosen CommerceHub's Product Master™ to assist the company in rapidly adding new product categories to its online operation.
As a result of an agreement between the two companies, CommerceHub will provide QVC.com customers with access to a vast selection of new products in the electronic/entertainment categories of books, music, movies and video games. CommerceHub's Product Master will host product content including images and descriptions, thus enabling QVC.com to integrate entirely new product lines and suppliers without having to modify its existing systems. Additionally, as a result of this program, QVC.com will not be required to stock any of the items, as the products will be fulfilled by drop-ship enabled suppliers already integrated to the network.
"CommerceHub's integrated product content and fulfillment services are vital to the dynamic nature of our business," noted Stephen Hamlin, vice president of operations QVC.com. "We have been successfully managing our network of virtual suppliers utilizing its Drop-Ship Master™ platform, and CommerceHub is now enabling us to quickly build out new product categories without having to house all of the inventory that goes along with it. We view CommerceHub as a critical component of our strategy."
QVC is one of the most dynamic electronic merchandisers in the retail industry. They have leveraged our applications to build a virtual inventory empire that has real profits," stated Frank Poore, CommerceHub's founder and CEO. "QVC.com can instantly expand into new product categories without taking on additional inventory risk, and with greater fulfillment control than most retailers have over their own warehoused inventory."
